Immersive: BD 101

Program Details

A career in business development (BD) is one of the major interests of Nucleate leadership members. A structured learning environment to introduce fundamentals centered around life science BD will catalyze the next generation of life sciences business leaders.

01 APPLICATION

Applications for the Fellowship will be open in mid-July 2024, with a deadline for submission around end-August 2024

02 COHORT SELECTION

Interview invitations for selected candidates will be sent out, final list of participants will be announced by the mid-September 2024

03 COURSES

A total of 6 sessions will be held between October 15, 2024 - November 19. 2024.

04 FINAL SHOWCASE

Final presentation will be held on December 6, 2024

  • I am a recent graduate/postdoctoral fellow/medical resident- can I apply?

    The target audience for this course is current graduate-level trainees. If you are in a PhD/MD/JD/MBA program or are a postdoctoral fellow, we encourage you to apply!

  • What are you looking for in applicants?

    We are looking for applicants who have demonstrated a strong interest in pursuing a career in BD. We aim to have a diverse cohort of participants from many different backgrounds, so please apply!

  • What topics will be covered?

    The course will serve as an introduction to business development. Topics will include search and evaluation, buy-side and sell-side BD, BD finance, and alliance management.

  • Is the course virtual or in-person?

    All the sessions will be virtual.

  • Who is teaching the course?

    Each session will be led by a member of Genentech or Alnylam’s BD team.

  • How frequently does the course meet?

    Once a week for about an hour.

  • What is the difference between the Genentech cohort and Alnylam cohort?

    The only difference between the two company cohorts is the company you will be working with and the project topics and strategic interests under each company. We have added Alynlam as a partner company this year to increase our capacity for trainees to benefit from this course!

  • Are there outside assignments?

    Yes. Readings/assignments will be assigned for three of the six lectures and completed as a team. There will also be a team project to showcase the skills learned throughout the course. Each assignment will help the teams to work towards their final project.

  • What are the teams?

    Teams of 4-5 participants will be assigned based on Genentech or Alnylam’s areas of interest listed on the application (ex. Oncology).

  • When does the course start?

    The virtual course kickoff is October 11th. The first session is October 15th.
